DAY 133 (1) THURSDAY, MARCH 18, 2010
1. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training courses are available
through the Charles City YMCA. Check the poster on the bulletin
board for dates and times. You must be at least 15 years old to take
the courses.
2. Band lessons: 9:17 Charles

3. MAP testing will begin on Monday. First-year-students group 9A
(last name Albrecht - Kluiter) will begin on Monday morning.
First-year- students group 9B will be last name Kock - Yerkes.
Sophomores group 10A will be last name Bangasser - Jordan, 10B will
be last name Keller - Winkowitsch. Juniors will test as one group.
4. Seniors: we only have about 20 KLMJ senior spotlight sheets
turned in. If you would still like to be included, turn your sheet
in by the end of the day today. If you need another sheet, pick one
up in the office. The song dedication sheet is also on the counter
in the office.
5. No school Friday due to a staff development meeting.
DAY 132 (6) WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17, 2010
1. Friday, March 19, is the last day to order a 2009-2010 yearbook
for $50; after that, the cost will be $60. March 31 is the last day
to order a yearbook
2. The library will be closed periods 3 through 6 today for Bearcat Cafe.
3. MAP testing will begin on Monday. The testing schedule has
been posted. Please check it to make sure you know what section you
are in. First-year-students group 9A (last name Albrecht - Kluiter)
will begin on Monday morning. First-year- students group 9B will be
last name Kock - Yerkes. Sophomores group 10A will be last name
Bangasser - Jordan, 10B will be last name Keller - Winkowitsch.
Juniors will test as one group.

2. Iowa College Student Aid Commission wants Iowa students and families to
know about the free ACT® <http://www.actstudent.org/index.html> test preparation
tools available at www.IHaveaPlanIowa.gov <http://www.IHaveaPlanIowa.gov> . The
remaining test dates for the 2009-2010 academic year are April 10, 2010 and
June 12, 2010.
3. Congratulations to Rich Vickers on his first place finish in the 800m run
last night at Wartburg.
4. A HUGE congratulations goes out to North Butler's own Airyn Painter for
receiving the State Speech Association's highest honor of being selected for
All State!
5. Play practice tonight for CAST members only from 7:30-9:00. NO books
on stage tonight!!!
6. The Building Tomorrow Survey will be administered to students during AR
this week. The tenth grade will take it tomorrow and the eleventh grade on
Thursday.
7. Deadline to purchase a yearbook for $50 is March 19. After that the
cost is $60 per book. The last day to purchase a yearbook is March 31.
DAY 130 (3) MONDAY, MARCH 15, 2010
1. Boys and girls track teams need to be dismissed at 1:40. Bus
leaves at 1:55 for Wartburg.
2. Congratulations Jazz band on your 1st place finish at the
Charles City Jazz Festival this past Saturday. Special congrats to
soloists Abby Souhrada, Anna Derdzinski, and Christine Moad for
receiving outstanding soloist awards. Also belated congratulations
to Charles Pascual for receiving an outstanding soloist award at the
UNI jazz festival last month.
3. Play practice tonight from 6:30-8:30 for all cast members plus
stage, lights, and sound crews. Please be on time.
4. Congratulations to the North Butler individual events state
speech team for great performances on Saturday! You should all be
proud of what you accomplished this year! We had 6 Division I
ratings, 3 of which were straight I's, and four Division II ratings.
Way to go speech students!!
5. Madison Brace, Taylor Boeckmann, Shauna Hansen, Ashlee Brown:
you have your vocal lessons today since there is no school Friday.
6. The following students still need to turn in money for waffle
tickets: Danielle C., Stephen K., Shelby R., Rich V. Please turn
that money in to Mr. Juhl or Mrs. Asleson as soon as possible.
DAY 129 (3) FRIDAY, MARCH 12, 2010
1. The library will be closed periods 2,4, and 5 today for Language
Arts 10 class.
2. NBHS General Scholarship applications are due in the office today
by 3:03. No Exceptions!
3. KLMJ senior spotlight sheets are due to the office today.
4. Yearbook order forms are on the counter in the office. Deadline
for the $50 price is March 19; after that date the cost is $60. The
last day to purchase a yearbook is March 31.

6. All State Speech students should report to Mrs. Clark's room
at 1:25 today. We will be leaving to go to the middle school promptly
at 1:30. Good luck tomorrow at State contest!!!
7. MAP testing will begin on Monday, March 22, for grades 9-11.
The testing schedule will be posted on Monday. We are going to try
to complete testing in four days.
